Towonga Welcomes Darriwell

Garry and Donna announced the purchase of the Darriwell Merino stud from the Jones family on October 10, 2024. The Kopp family has fully acquired Darriwell, one of the Central West’s oldest Merino studs, from Russell and Jenny, making Towonga Merino Stud a major force in both ram and wool production.

“Combining two of the biggest wool producers in the industry only makes sense,” Garry says.

Going forward, nothing will change in how we manage both studs. They have different client bases and will remain separate to maintain their distinct bloodlines.

“There are great opportunities for us to offer a range of genetics to clients who need livestock suited to their specific environments.”

We’re also pleased that Russell and Jenny will continue working actively with us at Darriwell as classer and advisors for the bloodline. Together, we see a bright future ahead, ensuring the wool industry remains as productive as possible.

Maiden Ewe Competitions

These competitions provide invaluable bench marking opportunities, enabling breeders to assess their flock’s performance and maximize productivity. Each year, expert judges offer insights and production advice, helping elevate breeding and management practices.

Clients are not just participants but committed competitors in local and Zone Ewe Competitions. Their flocks are celebrated for exceptional fleece production and robust frames, establishing them as a formidable and presence among their peers.

We are excited to see our Darriwell clients out in force for the upcoming 2025 Ewe Competitions, and we wish them the best of luck as they showcase the quality and competitiveness of Darriwell bloodlines!
